    Description

    This R.C. Gorman signed print is matted and professionally framed.  Gorman is a Navajo artist.  Rudolph Carl Gorman was born July 26, 1931  and died Npv/ 33, 2005.  He was an oil painter, lithographer, and scupltor. He was known for his paintings of Native American women, characterized by fluid forms and vibrant colors.  The print measures approximately: 23 3/8" X 18", the framed print measures approximately: 30" X 24 1/2" X 1/2".
    Gorman has been referred to as the Picasso of Native American artists by the New York Times.  His father was one of the original twenty-nine Navajo Code Talkers.  R.C. himself served in the navy after graduating from high school, then he entered college majoring in literature and minoring in art at Northern Arizona University.  In 1958 he received the first scholarship from the  Navajo Tribal Council to study outside of the U.S., and enrolled in the art program at Mexico City College.  There he learned of and was influenced by the work of Diego Rivera.  He later studied at San Francisco State University.
