Antique 1880's Bronze Dragon & Winged Serpent Motif Bookend

A fantastic 1880s Dragon & Winged Serpent Motif Metal Folding Bookend. The chimeric dragon and winged serpents designs were a very popular motif during the Victorian Era. Based on similar examples it's of French, English, early American origin. The only markings on the piece is the number "8" on the bottom, probably a design or date code. This piece was probably part of a set that would have been an executive's desk accessories, and it matches other similar dragon motif desk pieces of that period.
